When the Cheese Lady came to tea.

“You have to be a romantic to invest yourself, your money, and your time in cheese.” ―  Anthony Bourdain , Les Halles, New York. From his book Medium Raw: A Bloody Valentine to the World of Food and the People Who Cook .

I have always been a cheese lover; ever since I was a small girl and my granddad sat me up on the garden bench with an odd shaped tomato from the greenhouse, a few slivers of fresh cucumber from the hot frame and a big chunk of strong Scottish Cheddar I have loved cheese.

jampionships_pic

It's time to start thinking about that time of year again! As we shake off the Winter Blues and things start to heat up into Spring and Summer we will be bringing you news on how you can "set" your sights on becoming the World Jampion of 2013!

Inspired by the world-class, soft fruit Berry Fields of Blairgowrie and the berry pickers of years gone by THE JAMPIONSHIPS are here to unite us all in our love of everyone’s favourite spread!

We're looking for Homemakers and Artisans, Experts and Beginners and this year as well jam made from our areas top 3 exports, Raspberries, Strawberries and Blackcurrants, we want you to really let your imagination run wild and send us your favourites! Whether it's a single fruit stone Jam or a combination Jelly we want to taste it in our quest to find the best Jam maker in the World!

The Jampionships are open to all, we don't want you to worry if its your first time; this year we have a Novice Class or if you would rather get together with friends or colleagues, we will be looking for Team efforts and we want to know why you work so well as a team! We will be calling on the Scottish experts, the Scottish Women's Rural Institute (SWRI) as they battle it out in a "class" of their own!

Along the way we want you to share your stories with us and the rest of this Jam Mad World on our blog, Facebook and twitter. We will bring you inspirational photographs, stories, recipes and events throughout the Spring & Summer to really get everyone talking about everyones favourite Spread!
